HB students hear lecture by Olympic gold winner

Authored by Rebecca Biggar, LSW, MSW; Upper School Counselor; Director of the Center for Leadership and Well Being

Hathaway Brown School’s Center for Leadership & Well Being took 17 Upper School students to hear Aly Raisman, Olympic gold winner, author of “Fierce: How Competing for Myself Changed Everything,” and activist, lecture at a Cleveland chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women event. The HB students were inspired as Aly shared her experience of writing a book and becoming a strong advocate for sexual abuse awareness in the Me Too movement. Our students were invigorated by Aly’s candor, perseverance, courage to be a crusader in shining light on the importance of consent, using your voice, empowerment, and safety.
